INSTRUCTOR TRAINING WITH LEE TOLSON

As a Grade A Driving Instructor with over 18 years experience I have a wealth of knowledge to pass on. From those completely new to the industry exploring the idea of becoming an ADI through to fellow ADI's needing additional support and training for the job or in preparation for a Standards Check. I would be delighted to help.

Before you commit to any training I would be happy to meet for a no obligation chat about how I can help you achieve your goals. This way I can find out more about your needs and you get to meet me before committing any time or money. Giving us both the confidence that we can build a great professional working relationship together.

Click here to visit the DVSA website and learn more about what it takes to become a Driving Instructor.

Here's how I can support you...

ADI PART ONE - THEORY

This is the Theory Part of the training process and the first stage that you will complete on your journey to becoming a driving instructor. Tolson Driver Training will provide you with access to Theory Test Pro. This will be set at the ADI level of access enabling you to access a bank of questions from all four categories tested in the ADI Theory Test.  You can learn at your own pace and I will provide regular catch ups to help keep you on track and support you with any questions you may have.

ADI PART TWO - DRIVING ABILITY

This is the practical element of the training process and at this stage we will work together to raise the standard of your driving to meet the level required by the DVSA and of course for you to pass on to your own students in the future.  This training is completed in car, either in my training car or your own. This can be discussed at our initial meeting.  I will provide you with a training logbook where we will keep notes of your progress along the way.

ADI PART THREE - INSTRUCTIONAL ABILITY

This is where you really start to get stuck in to becoming a driving instructor and where you will be tested on your instructional ability. We will prepare together for this in a variety of ways. First of all we will start with some decisional based training in the car and then move forward, building up to working with learner drivers. These at first will be with some of my learners who I will match carefully for you and provide you with a broad range of students to expand your instructional ability. After this we will discuss together your onward training and what would work best for you.

I work closely with some great ADI's who can help you along on your journey. For a nominal fee you can observe them give lessons with their learners and spend time with them to discuss those lessons afterwards. This is something that I wish I had access to when I was training many years ago. When my wife Amy trained as an instructor more recently, we started to make the most of some great instructors local to us, an opportunity to observe how others coach was invaluable. Not only is it a massive benefit in preparation for the ADI Part Three test but also begins to build relationships within the ADI community.  Of course you will also be able to observe my lessons with my learners. All of these sessions will be noted in your training log book.
